REINA WEARS THE RUCHED ARMHOLE DRESS
How does Tokyo influence the way you dress or express yourself?
"PEOPLE ARE GENERALLY WELL PUT-TOGETHER IN TOKYO AND TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES FROM HEAD TO TOE, WHICH MAKES ME MORE FOCUSED ON THE SMALLER DETAILS TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS JUST RIGHT"
- REINA OGAWA CLARKE, 33, STYLIST

HOW DOES THE CULTURE OR ENERGY OF TOKYO INFLUENCE YOUR WORK?
"Just being in the streets of Tokyo and watching people around me, I get to see all kinds of culture and self-expression. There are so many people here, and when something catches my eye, it makes me happy—those little things often become part of how I express myself too."
- HINA, 25, DRUMMER
TAE RANG WEARS THE BLOCK POLO SWEATER, WOOL CLASSIC SHIRT, AND CARPENTER TROUSERS
HOW DOES TOKYO INFLUENCE THE WAY YOU DRESS OR EXPRESS YOURSELF?
"Tokyo's understated intensity shaped more than just how I dress, it taught me to express myself with muted precision, the way precision becomes a kind of silence in translation. The city's subtle codes and silences echo the kind of writing I live with: elliptical, hushed, and full of strange clarity."
- TAE RANG KIM, 32, LITERARY TRANSLATOR
What is one place in the city you think every tourist should visit?
"WHEN I WANT TO SLOW DOWN, I GO TO MEIJI SHRINE. EVEN THOUGH IT'S IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY, IT'S FULL OF TREES AND GARDENS. IT'S A GREAT SPOT TO TAKE A BREAK."
- GENSHO, 31, SCULPTOR, ARTIST
What is one thing everyone coming to Tokyo should know?
"THE INSIDE OF SHIBUYA STATION IS LIKE A MAZE. GIVE YOURSELF PLENTY OF TIME TO GET AROUND!"
- YURIKO ONO, 35, ACTRESS
HOW DOES THE CULTURE OR ENERGY OF TOKYO INFLUENCE YOUR WORK?
"Since I've always lived in Tokyo, I never really thought about its influence. But thinking about it now, I was naturally surrounded by many people working in this field, and I think that exposure led me to be interested in this career—so perhaps I was deeply influenced without realizing it."
- YURIKO ONO
PHEW WEARS THE FLUID TRENCH, AND WRAP SHIRT
What does a perfect day in Tokyo look like for you?
"I FEEL VERY HAPPY WHEN I HAVE A MEAL AT A SMALL, OLD-FASHIONED RESTAURANT I'VE NEVER BEEN TO DURING WORK BREAKS, AND IT'S BOTH CHEAP AND DELICIOUS."
How does Tokyo influence the way you dress or express yourself?
"TOKYO HAS MANY RESIDENTS FROM VARIOUS REGIONS OF JAPAN, MAKING IT A TRANSIENT AND ROOTLESS CITY.
HOWEVER, IT ALWAYS HAS AN OPEN ATMOSPHERE THAT ALLOWS YOU TO CHOOSE THE CLOTHES YOU WANT TO WEAR AND DO WHAT YOU WANT."
- PHEW, 65, MUSICIAN
How does the culture or energy of Tokyo influence your work?
"THE CONTRAST BETWEEN SPACE AND STILLNESS IN TOKYO INFLUENCES HOW I WORK WITH TIME AND SPACE. MEETING SO MANY DIFFERENT PEOPLE HERE KEEPS ME OPEN MINDED AND INSPIRED."
